GMA Design Group is proud to share that the East Hartford Logistics & Technology Park has been honored with the 2025 CoStar Impact Award for Hartford Commercial Development of the Year. This recognition celebrates the project’s design excellence, economic contribution, and strategic impact on the region’s industrial landscape.
In partnership with National Development, GMA collaborated on the design of the first phase of this transformative 300-acre master-planned industrial park. The initial development includes two state-of-the-art, build-to-suit distribution facilities totaling more than 2.5 million square feet. Designed for major national retail users, both facilities set a new benchmark for functionality, scale, and sustainability in Class A industrial development.
Located on the historic Rentschler Field site—a former World War II airfield—the project reimagines a dormant property into a high-performance logistics hub. The site’s proximity to key metropolitan centers like New York and Boston enhances its relevance, while its development signals Hartford’s growing role in the regional distribution economy. Beyond construction, the park is expected to generate permanent employment opportunities, contributing long-term value to the community.
GMA’s architectural approach prioritized flexibility, performance, and environmental stewardship. The buildings were designed with infrastructure for future solar arrays, energy-efficient systems, EV charging stations, and generous natural light throughout workspaces. Each facility also features 40-foot clear heights, roughly 150 dock positions, dedicated office buildouts, and ample space for both trailer and vehicle parking—all within a streamlined and visually cohesive design.
