GMA Design Group is proud to partner with ARCO National Construction Company on the design and construction of a new 73,920-square-foot widebody aircraft hangar and a 5,100-square-foot storage building for International Aerospace Coatings (IAC) at Rick Husband Amarillo International Airport. This state-of-the-art facility is designed to expand IAC’s capabilities and solidify its presence in the Amarillo aviation community.
Designed to support IAC’s advanced painting operations, the hangar will feature specialized spaces including hazardous paint mixing and storage rooms, ensuring the highest standards of safety and compliance. A dedicated wastewater treatment system will handle effluents responsibly, while an oil-free compressed air system, complete with a 75-horsepower compressor and a 2,000-gallon air receiver tank, will deliver the consistent air quality required for precision painting.
The hangar will also be equipped with a high-capacity ventilation system capable of delivering 3.5 air changes per hour, promoting optimal working conditions and safety. Designed to meet the intense energy demands of the facility, it will feature 3,000-AMP electrical service and be topped with a durable standing seam metal roof engineered to withstand the rigorous conditions of the aviation industry. This project marks an exciting step forward as IAC adds its sixth hangar at AMA, and we are honored to provide the architectural expertise to bring it to life.
