GMA Design Group is honored to have received a 2025 Capstone Award from the Kansas City Business Journal for the design of a new office and warehouse facility created in partnership with ARCO National Construction and BlueScope Properties Group. Recognized for excellence in commercial real estate development, the award-winning 52,253-square-foot facility reflects a thoughtful integration of function, comfort, and brand identity. The design prioritizes operational efficiency while fostering a dynamic workplace environment, featuring 51 private offices, four advanced conference rooms, and a 2,000-square-foot training space with stadium-style seating. A seamless connection between the office and warehouse enhances workflow and reinforces a unified architectural vision—underscoring why this project stood out as a leader in its category.
A defining aspect of the design is the incorporation of amenities that reinforce ARCO’s “work hard, play hard” culture. A fully equipped gym supports employee wellness, while the expansive break room—complete with a kitchen and game area—provides opportunities for social interaction. The most impressive amenity is an NBA-sized basketball court, integrating recreation into the workplace experience in a way that is both functional and engaging.
The architectural and interior design elements were developed to reflect ARCO’s brand and values. The reception area establishes a strong first impression with a custom illuminated logo, while throughout the space, branded elements narrate the company’s history and culture. Full-wall murals depict ARCO’s timeline and core values, and a backlit, laser-cut map highlights their sabbatical program, reinforcing the company’s commitment to employee growth. Each conference room further strengthens the connection to the local context, featuring murals that celebrate Kansas City’s sports heritage.
